Reno loves sport. Whether the locals are enjoying a day at the ballpark to cheer on the Aces, or howling for UNR’s Wolf Pack teams – if you want to get in on the local sporting action, Reno won’t disappoint.
Grand Sierra Resort is the perfect base to get out and enjoy the sporting action. Or, grab a beer and watch all the big games you can handle right from our very own Race and Sports Bar.
The Reno Aces are a Minor League baseball team that play in the Pacific Coast League from April through September. Their home is the Greater Nevada Field, located just east of downtown Reno and only a short drive from Grand Sierra Resort.
Also calling the Greater Nevada Field their home is the professional soccer club, Reno 1868, which made its USL Championship debut in 2017. Their regular season runs from March through October.
The University of Nevada, Reno has a diverse sports program that has produced a long list of notable athletes, including Colin Kaepernick, starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII, as well as professional MLB players, an Olympic swimming medalist, mixed martial arts fighters, boxers, and basketball players.
The Wolf Pack are the university’s football and basketball teams. Around these parts, every game season, you can hear the locals howling their support as they “back the pack”.
If you can’t make it to a game, you can always take in the sporting action – and place your bets – from our lively Race and Sports Book right here at Grand Sierra Resort.
