  • All food offerings within the Poker Room have been suspended along with eating in the room. Regular cocktail service will still be available.

Meet Your Poker Host

Joshua Matheus, GSR Poker Room Manager

Joshua is a Reno native and UNR graduate. He was a member of the Nevada Air National Guard for nine years, where he served as a C-130 Loadmaster on multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and worked on a special DoD project testing new aircraft equipment. In doing this, Joshua flew to nearly every continent and roughly 40 countries.

Joshua began his career as a table games dealer at Harrah’s Reno when he was 22, and has been in gaming ever since. He has held several roles in the industry, including teaching numerous dealing classes for all game types. He started at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino as a pit supervisor and was promoted to Assistant Casino Manager a short time later. Now he has the opportunity to bring a unique perspective to Grand Sierra Resort’s poker room. His goals are to provide the best poker experience in Nevada and to leave every guest feeling like a VIP every time they visit.
